VeganMoFo2012 Day 22: Peanut Butter Squares

VeganMoFo2012 Week Four has begun! I've been out all arvo/evening and seeing as I type up my posts the night before I will keep this short and very sweet.

Peanut Butter Squares

A friend recently mentioned peanut butter and chocolate and for some reason I couldn't get the idea of that combination out of my head. Then another friend suggested I try this recipe and it would cure my pb-choc craving!

The amount of sugar and the fact that there are two types was a bit scary but I went with it. I used vegan margarine in place of butter and Enjoy Life vegan chocolate chips.

These were super dooper sweet and at first I found that really off-putting but then I cut these squares into quarters and enjoying just a little bit at a time was actually really nice as the peanut butter and dark chocolate helped to balance out the sugar. I still think they could do with less and I have another recipe I'd like to try out soon.

What's your favourite way to combine peanut butter and chocolate?

Mini Peanut butter Cups, mixing peanut butter with icing sugar, vanilla, salt and margarine pressing that into a mini paper cupcake case and topping with melted chocolate. Mmmmmm. They are a tiny hit of sugary goodness!

Our brains are in the same place. I made muddy buddies to curve my craving. These look So Good.

These look fab! I have never tried peanut butter and chocolate, but these might have just convinced me to have a go... :)

these looks fantastic! they remind me a bit of the chocolate peanut butter squares we would eat in grade school. i think my favorite way to combine chocolate and peanut butter would be in ice cream!!

you almost don't need any sugar when you've got PB and chocolate in the same room. I have a couple of different PB & Choc cookie recipes that I love, but I also love a spoonful of PB with a bunch of chocolate chips on it. Straight to the point!

Those look pretty good. When something's too sweet, I like to eat it with green tea. For some reason, it balances out the flavors for me!

Great minds think alike - I have a peanut butter square n my bag for work today! Only I have to eat it in tiny bites throughout the day, otherwise I have a massive sugar rush and go a bit weird!

I'm the same way about sugar, most dessert recipes just have too much of it for my taste buds. Maybe it's a side effect of getting older? Ha ha. :) And my favorite peanut butter chocolate combo is also the simplest - a scoop of peanut butter on a spoon, and chocolate chips sprinkled on top. Easy peasy and so damn good!

Ooh Mandee! I would love to pop a couple of these beauties in my mouth right now! There are so many delicious peanut butter and chocolate recipes I do not think I can choose one favorite! These look quite easy to make, so I think I will try them maybe tomorrow or Wednesday.

I used to love those things, copious amounts of sugar and all! They were pretty popular around Christmas time and we would get them in cookies swaps. I pretty much love all forms of chocolate and peanut butter :)

I made them! I cut the sugar in half, which was very nice but the peanut butter didn't get firm enough. Oh well, they were still tasty and I've already gobbled up two squares today! :D

Oh wow, those squares look so rich and decadent. Chocolate and peanut butter make such a nice pair.

I went vegan in 2006 and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I love baking cupcakes and reading books and often wish I could combine both activities without disastrous results. If I’m not in the kitchen you’ll find me photographing food, cuddling my three kittehs or re-watching my favourite tv shows over and over again with my boyfriend. Due to food sensitivities I don't eat gluten or soy and yes, vegan, gluten free and soy free food is still delicious! Twitter: CupcakeKitteh
