VeganMoFo2012 Day 7: French Toast and Bakewell Tart
Hey everyone! Week one of VeganMoFo is over, hooray! I have really, really, really enjoyed food blogging again; catching up with bloggers, visiting all the blogs I used to as well as discovering new ones :D
Yesterday I caught up with Michelle at Apt. We had brunch and Cassie joined us, too. I was really keen to try one of the new gluten free options, French toast! Leigh warned me that the dipping liquid for the bread was soy but I really wanted to try something new for brekkie so I ordered it anyway.
To start I got a decaf long black to which I added some coffee creamer. I'm really not a coffee person any more as caffeine makes my heart race, I even drink decaf tea because I just can't handle regular black tea, but I have started enjoying a cup of decaf coffee every now and then.
And then this gorgeous plate was put in front of me
They use Schar Pan Carré for the bread which is such a good choice, it's my fave gf bread and is the most like regular old wheaty white bread and it was topped with a delicious berry compote and loads of maple syrup.
I also bought a slice of gf Bakewell tart to take away and I enjoyed it yesterday arvo with a cup of tea.

MoFo is such a good time! I have similar issues with caffeine, but I LOVE the taste of coffee so I can't help myself sometimes. I usually only have a little at a time, though. That french toast looks amazing, I want it.
That French toast looks great! I went to Apt for the first time last weekend and had the buckwheat pancakes, they were huge and delicious! And I just love being able to eat in a nice bookstore.
What awesome gf French toast! It looks fantastically decadent--perfect for a cup of coffee. (I'm with you too, don't drink caffeine anymore except occasionally.) Happy weekend!

I think favourite brunch would be some sort of scrambled tofu. I wouldn't mind a bit of that French toast though!

I'm impressed that you're blogging everyday! You're on fire! That's a very tasty looking brunch! I'd say my favorite brunch to make would be a tofu scramble or waffles. Both of them are good sleeping in foods!
Oh my heavens, I've always thought I'm not a French Toast person, but that mega gorgeous creation (plus the fact that vegan would mean, well, no gross egg taste), is making me rethink my entire being.

The french toast looks fantastic, how great that they make it gf! I usually lean toward savory for brunch, like tofu scramble or grits or oats, but I DO love a good stack of pancakes.
MimicCreme! I have never tried their coffee creamer but their regular cream makes the best ice cream!
Bakewell tart is one of my favorite desserts. Mr. Wing-It and I always have Bakewell tart on our anniversary :)
That bakewell tart looks fabulous. I'd love to be able to get vegan french toast around my little corner of the world, it looks so decadent.
